Rien Cup 2024

What an unforgettable day we experienced this Saturday, November 9, at the Rien Cup in Pearland, Texas! With immense pride, 14 of our brave athletes represented Shin Ku Karate, and for the first time, we took part in the team kata and family kata categories. The dedication, passion, and skill of our competitors shone in every performance, and the results speak for themselves: 13 gold medals, 7 silver medals, and 7 bronze medals!

It was a day filled with excitement and energy, with our families by our side, cheering us on every step of the way. We would like to give a special shout-out to three students who truly stood out: Valery Tabora, who made her competition debut with an impressive performance, winning 2 silver medals; Paula Carrasquel, who achieved an amazing 3 gold medals; and Luka Medina, who brought home 2 gold medals, showing leadership and strong competitive spirit in their categories.

Shin Ku Karate Shines at Kume International Cup: 25 Medals Won!

We are thrilled to announce the incredible success of our 14 athletes at the Kume International Cup on September 7! With outstanding performances in both kata and kumite, Shin Ku Karate proudly brought home an impressive 25 medals:

Frisco Cup 2024

On Saturday, July 27, we had the honor of participating in the Frisco Cup, hosted by the Dojo OSS Karate Academy in Frisco, Texas. Fourteen of our dedicated athletes represented us in this prestigious event, showcasing their skills in both kata and kumite. After a day filled with intense competition, we are incredibly proud of our children and adults who reached the pinnacle of success.

A special shout-out goes to Mikaela Brito and Samuel Sisiruca, who courageously competed for the first time. Their determination and spirit were truly inspiring. We also extend our heartfelt thanks to the parents for their unwavering support and encouragement throughout this journey.

Our team brought home an impressive total of 29 medals: 15 gold, 11 silver, and 3 bronze, and three trophies of the elite categories. Each medal is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and perseverance of our athletes.

In addition, we are thrilled to announce that our dojo was recognized as the third-highest in gold medal count. This achievement reflects the collective effort and commitment of our entire community. Congratulations to everyone involved!





National Games in Lafayette, Louisiana, July 11-14, 2024

This past weekend was truly exciting! We attended the national karate tournament with 10 of our athletes, who were among the best in the United States.

The tournament spanned 4 days, featuring kata, kumite, weapons, para karate, and team kumite and kata, as well as elite categories vying for a spot on the U.S. national team.

After intense and exhilarating competitions, we are immensely proud of all our athletes, who stood out and shone in one or more categories. Here are the joyful results:

AKR Open 2024

On June 8th, our Shin Ku Karate team dazzled at the AKR Open Tournament in Houston, where 18 of our talented athletes gave their all on the tatami, showcasing incredible skill and dedication.

Our students' performance was nothing short of spectacular! They brought home a total of 28 medals, including 13 gold, 7 silver, 8 bronze, and 2 participation medals. Our warriors shone in every category and competition.

We are especially proud to congratulate our brave debutants: Gael and Enzo Marin, Gustavo Lopez, and Jose Basabe, who made their first appearance in a tournament with unparalleled dedication and spirit.

We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the parents for their unwavering support and enthusiasm during this long and thrilling day. Thanks to you, we proved once again that Shin Ku Karate is more than a team; we are a great family!

Belt Test June 1, 2024

We would like to extend our congratulations to the second group of athletes who participated in the grade advancement, held on Saturday, June 1st, at the Dojo facilities. This time, we were joined by 12 athletes who delivered an impeccable performance, showcasing their dedication and skill. Additionally, we were fortunate to have the participation of our advanced students who assisted in evaluating the younger ones. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Aaron Nunez, Jose Basabe, and Jose Zuniga for their invaluable support and contribution to the success of this event.

On Friday, May 31st, we marked a significant milestone for our team as we held our inaugural grade advancement day. With great enthusiasm and determination, 13 athletes embarked on this challenge with the firm purpose of reaching a higher level in their athletic performance.

Throughout this day, each of our athletes demonstrated exceptional commitment and outstanding performance in all evaluated areas. From technique to endurance, discipline to competitive mindset, each one surpassed expectations, clearly showcasing their dedication to sport and personal growth.

Celebrating Success at the JIC and USA Open

We are thrilled to share with our community the impressive results achieved by our athletes at the Junior International Cup (JIC) and the USA Open, held from March 29th to 31st, 2024, at the Convention Center in Fort Worth, Texas.

Under the expert guidance and remarkable leadership of Sensei Moises Quintero, our talented athletes reached a level of excellence that fills us with pride. With his mentorship, 10 of our young athletes participated in the JIC, securing a total of 11 medals: six gold, one silver, and four bronze.

SAMURAI CUP 2024

On Sunday, January 28th, seven of our Shin Ku Karate students shone at the Samurai Cup Championship held in Houston, Texas, marking the beginning of the year's tournaments.

The day kicked off with the outstanding performance of Noah Medina, who secured first place in both kata and kumite in the first category of the day. Following that, Luka Medina impressed with an excellent display, claiming first place in kata and excelling in kumite.

Our dear student Ilyas stood out with a second place in kata and a remarkable performance in kumite.

Next, Ivanna had her invaluable debut in the Novice Female category for 10-11 years. Meanwhile, Susej clinched first place in kumite and successfully participated in kata.

In the Male 12-13 years Advanced category, our talented athletes Aaron Núñez and Jose Zuñiga stood out with stellar performances. Aaron secured the first place in kata, while Jose achieved the third place in kata and the first place in kumite.

We are immensely proud of all our students and sincerely thank the parents for their invaluable support.

Wonka: A movie afternoon at Shinku Karate Do

On Tuesday, December 19th, we hosted our last outing of 2023, and it was a smashing success! We headed to Cinemark in Cedar Park to catch the film "Wonka," and the afternoon turned out to be incredibly enjoyable.

A total of 48 people, including students, siblings, and representatives, joined us for a fabulous get-together in front of the big screen. Positive energy and camaraderie filled the theater, creating an exceptional atmosphere.

We want to extend our gratitude to all participants for actively engaging in various activities throughout the year. Your presence and enthusiasm strengthen the bonds of the Shinku Karate Do family, fostering a united and vibrant community.

Let's reminisce about the magic of our unforgettable Christmas Party that took place on Saturday, December 16th! This special event brought together our beloved students, parents, representatives, our esteemed Hanshi Yovany Aguero, and an extraordinary guest: Santa Claus!

Throughout the evening, we took time to recognize and honor our talented students. Each of them received well-deserved acknowledgment for their dedication and efforts throughout the year. Additionally, we highlighted students who actively participated in competitions, presenting them with individual recognitions. Following the school's medal tally, trophies were awarded to the top three positions, celebrating their outstanding achievements.

Unforgettable Encounter with Hanshi Yovany Agüero

We are thrilled to share the extraordinary experience we had on Friday, December 15, 2023, when we had the honor of hosting Hanshi Yovany Agüero at our facilities.

During this intense session, Hanshi Agüero delivered a master class that not only reinforced various attack and defense techniques for kumite but also immersed us in a detailed review of katas, enriching our understanding and skills in martial arts.

The three-hour class stood out not only for the depth of knowledge shared but also for the generosity and passion with which Hanshi Agüero imparted his teachings. It was an invaluable experience that strengthened our community bonds and elevated our skills to new levels.

In addition to the valuable instruction, our dedicated students had the honor of receiving the official patch of the Nintai Budo Renmei Karate Do International organization as recognition for their commitment and effort. This special gesture added a significant touch to the visit, further solidifying the connection between our practitioners and this esteemed organization.

Karate1 Youth League - Merida, México 2023

On the memorable Sunday of September 24th, our talented athlete, Aaron Nuñez, showcased his exceptional skills at the Karate1 Youth League held in Mérida, Mexico, competing in both the Kata and Kumite disciplines. Aaron's presence at this prestigious event was by virtue of an invitation extended to him by the AJKL (American Youth Karate League), a recognition of his remarkable achievement in 2022 when he clinched the top spot in the EASTERN CONFERENCE RANKING.

In the Kata discipline, Aaron graced the tatami with Anan Dai in the first round, earning a commendable score of 27.1. In the subsequent round, he presented Papuren, securing a score of 21.8. Advancing to the third round for the Bronze, Aaron performed CHATANYARA KUSHANKU and scored a remarkable 21.9, ultimately claiming the bronze medal amidst stiff competition from 22 participants hailing from various corners of the globe.

In the Kumite category, Aaron engaged in three challenging rounds, emerging victorious in the first two encounters against fellow athletes from Mexico. His outstanding performance secured him a well-deserved second place in Kumite.

Aaron's debut in the Youth League was nothing short of spectacular, a testament to his dedication and hard work. We are immensely proud of his accomplishments and extend our heartfelt congratulations to him and his entire family.





Aaron Nuñez's Outstanding Performance at the Pan American Karate Championships

We are thrilled to share the success of our student, Aaron Nuñez, at the Pan American Junior, Cadet & U21 Karate Championships held in Santiago de Chile from August 24th to 26th, 2023.

Aaron Nuñez showcased his remarkable skills in both Kata and Kumite events in the Under-14 category. In the Kata discipline, his performance was impeccable. He began with his impressive "Anan Dai" kata, earning a score of 37.0 and advancing through the first round. Following that, his presentation of "Chatanyara Kushanku" earned him a score of 38.2. In the final round, he executed the "Papuren" kata flawlessly, securing the 3rd place among 21 participants from across the Americas.

In the Kumite category, Aaron demonstrated his prowess on the tatami floor. He triumphed in his first two matches against representatives from Mexico and Brazil. Despite a challenging third match against the Colombian representative and a loss, he showcased great determination. In the repechage, he faced off against the Ecuadorian representative, finishing the championship as a remarkable fifth-best in the Americas.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Aaron for his outstanding performance in his debut Pan American appearance. We also wish to commend his parents for their unwavering dedication and support, which undoubtedly contributed to this triumphant achievement. 2023 USA National Karate Championship

From July 13-16, 2023, the USA Karate National Championship and Team Trials were held at the Greater Richmond Conference Center in Richmond, Virginia.

One of our students, Aaron Núñez, demonstrated his talent in the elite category of 12-13 years old in both Kata and Kumite. The competition lasted four intense days, during which the best karatekas from all over the country gathered to compete on the tatami.

In the Kata event on day one, Aaron performed admirably, coming through two intense rounds and securing his place in the final. The next day, he participated in Kumite and demonstrated exceptional skills, winning two rounds and earning his place in the Kumite final.

On Sunday, Aaron's dedication and hard work paid off as he competed in both finals, taking an impressive second place in Kata and another second place in Kumite. His outstanding performance in these events led to his well deserved spot on the USA Junior Karate National Team.

From Shin Ku Karate, we want to congratulate you and wish you the best of luck in your next competitions in Chile (Pan American Championship) and Mexico (Youth League). From April 7 to 9

One of the most important events of world Karate will take place in Las Vegas. Our student Aaron Núñez participated for the first time in this competition, managing to climb to the podium by obtaining bronze and silver medals in kata, as well as a bronze medal in Kumite.





On April 1

The first grade promotion of the year 2023 took place, in which the students Noah Medina, Luka Medina, Alan Ambriz, Evaluna Rojas and Javier Núñez acquired their 9th Kiu grade. As well as Fabian Vázquez was promoted to the 8th kiu yellow belt

On March 11

Our Dojo was present at the annual edition of the Busho Kai Open tournament, where we were able to count on the participation of 11 athletes from our Dojo
